The Wild Things’ series finale Thursday in Brockton, Mass., against the New England Knockouts, was canceled because of rain. Washington and New England are not scheduled to meet again this season, so the game was canceled instead of postponed, meaning the Wild Things will play only 95 games.

Washington won both games in the series. After an 14-5 win Tuesday, the Wild Things won 10-5 Wednesday in a game shortened to seven innings because of rain. First baseman Andrew Czech went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run. Czech has homered in all five games this season. Tommy Caufield also hit a home run and drove in three, and Robert Chayka went 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBI.

Jordan DiValerio (1-0) pitched five innings for the win.

Washington begins a three-game series Friday night in Troy, N.Y., against the Tri-City ValleyCats.
