TROY, N.Y. – The Wild Things have another 89 games remaining on their schedule. During that stretch, it’s unlikely they will endure a wilder game than they did Friday night.

Washington squandered an eight-run lead but scored three times in the top of the 10th inning and beat the Tri-City ValleyCats 13-11 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

The Wild Things led 10-2 in the fourth inning, but Tri-City chipped away at the deficit and scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in both the eighth and ninth innings to send the game to extras tied at 10-10.

Washington took an 11-10 lead in the 10th on an RBI single by J.C. Santini that scored the tiebreaker runner. Caleb McNeely added an RBI single and a second run scored when the throw from the outfield was errant.

Tri-City, playing its home opener, started the bottom of the 10th with an RBI double off Washington reliever Gyeongjy Kim, who recorded his first save. Kim then retired the next three batters, two on strikeouts, to end the game.

Washington hit three home runs. Carson Clowers hit his first professional home run on the first pitch of the second inning, and McNeely and Alex Ovalles also homered.

Tyreque Reed drove in four runs and Andrew Czech hit two doubles.

The win was Washington’s third straight and evens its record at 3-3.
