A school van transporting two students home from a private high school in Washington overturned on a snow-covered road in West Finley Township Friday afternoon.
West Finley fire Chief Steve Emery said the occupants were taken to local hospitals for precautionary reasons. Their conditions were not known late Friday.
The driver of the van, owned by GG&C Bus Co., was traveling on Burnsville Ridge Road shortly before 4 p.m. when she lost control on an icy curve and hit an embankment, causing the vehicle to land on its side.
A passing motorist helped the three occupants out of the van.
According to Emery, road conditions were hazardous at the time of the accident.
The children, who were on their way home from First Love Christian Academy, were taken by ambulance to Wheeling Hospital, (W.Va) and the driver was transp.orted to Washington Hospital.
State police responded to the accident. Claysville Fire Department assisted West Finley firefighters.
