Two Fayette County men were arrested early Saturday by California University of Pennsylvania police after they were found prowling around vehicles parked in the lot at Vulcan Village.
Arrested were William Brady Morgan Pratt, 21, of Masontown, and Gregory Lloyd McKay, 18, of Martin.
Police were called about 1:40 a.m. after receiving a report from a resident of the housing complex of two men looking in vehicles and pulling on door handles. When police arrived, they found Pratt and McKay walking around vehicles in the area adjacent to Building 9 in the complex.
After getting their identification, both men were patted down for officer safety. While patting down McKay, police found an E-Z Pass in his front, left pants pocket. When asked why he had it in his pocket, McKay claimed he got it from a friend. The E-Z Pass was not registered to McKay’s friend.
During the patdown of Pratt, police found a suspected marijuana cigarette.
McKay told police that they got a ride to the complex from a friend. That friend told police that she had given the two a ride to Vulcan Village after leaving a nearby bar. She told police that neither one followed her to the apartment they were planning to visit. McKay and Pratt told her they would “catch up with her later.”
Both men were arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward. Pratt was charged with possession of marijuana, criminal conspiracy, and disorderly conduct. McKay is charged with theft, theft from a vehicle, loitering and prowling at night, criminal conspiracy and disorderly conduct. They were each placed in the Washington County jail on $10,000 percentage bond. A preliminary hearing is set for March 6 before District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
