WILMERDING (AP) – Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies said Tuesday it will build low-emission locomotives for Metrolinx of Canada under a new $63 million contract.
Wabtec, based in Wilmerding, said it will make 10 locomotives at its facility in Boise, Idaho, and expects to start delivering them in 2016.
Metrolinx, part of the Ontario government, is the regional transportation authority for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area. The agency ordered 11 new locomotives from Wabtec in 2012.
