“How to Fund a Small or Startup Business” is the theme and focus of a seminar Washington & Jefferson College will host Tuesday.
The forum is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Mt. Vernon Room of the George Washington, Main Street, Washington,
The Washington County Council on Economic Development and the University of Pittsburgh’s Small Business Development Center also will make presentations.
Topics include alternative funding sources, and attendees will have the opportunity to make contacts useful in seeking funding for a small or start-up business.
The seminar will feature discussion of available funding sources, from bank and Small Business Association loans, to Small Business Innovative Research grants, to microloan programs and crowdfunding. Participants will have the opportunity to make contacts with individuals involved in funding.
“As important as finding out what funding sources are available, small and startup business owners also will learn what sources are not good candidates for them,” said Jim Greenwood, a consultant working with W&J to determine the viability of starting a business incubator in Washington.
