Sponsored by the World War II Veterans Committee, the National Veterans Center Memorial Day parade bills itself as the largest Memorial Day event in the nation. Dom DeFranco, Veterans of Foreign Wars past state commander, told the throng gathered for ceremonies Monday morning at Post 764, McMurray, that the community was proud the band was participating at the event at the National Mall. This photo shows the band at the corner of Constitution and 10th, across from the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.

Nine-year-old Mason Markley of Claysville was happy enough when Randy Houser, opening act at the May 17 Brad Paisley show at First Niagara Pavilion, reached down from the stage to shake his hand. He was beyond excited later when Paisley autographed this guitar onstage and handed it down to him. Mason attended the concert with his mother, Michelle Markley, and cousin Kayla Shoup.
