HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania is holding a discount sale on 2015 fishing licenses.
For the first time in its history, the state Fish & Boat Commission approved a reduction in the annual fishing license fee. Commission spokesman Eric Levis said Monday that the $1 reduction takes effect Dec. 1.
The reduced one-year fees, which will last through next year, will be $21.70 for residents and $51.70 for non-residents.
Anglers who prefer multi-year licenses also can save money, but only if they buy their 2015 licenses in December. Those reductions will be $3 for three-year licenses and $5 for five-year licenses.
The commission says it hopes the lower fees will encourage people who have given up fishing to take up the sport again.
