McGuffey senior forward Sammie Weiss became the 38th girls basketball player in WPIAL history to reach 2,000 career points.

With her 26-point performance Thursday night against Quaker Valley, Weiss increased her career point total to 2,011. The two-time Observer-Reporter Player of the Year and California University recruit reached the milestone during the third quarter.

She is in good company and her high school career is far from over. The Highlanders have emerged as a contender in WPIAL CLass AAA.
