Tanger Outlets has a new shop and plans to add two more by the summer’s end.

Francesca’s, a clothing/accessories/gifts boutique, opened April 24. It is in a 2,400-square-foot space in the upscale shopping center in South Strabane Township. This is the fourth Francesca’s in the greater Pittsburgh area, which also is at South Hills Village, The Mall at Robinson and Ross Park Mall.

Two chains are due, Tanger General Manager Jodi Dague said via email. Hot Topic, a teen-oriented chain, is expected to open in early July inside 2,500 square feet. It also operates in Washington Crown Center.

The Industry, Calif., based company sells brand-related, licensed and fashion apparel and accessories at 600-plus stores and at www.hottopic.com.

Rack Room Shoes should establish a footprint at Tanger around midsummer, Dague said. The Burbank, Ohio-based footwear chain will be making its debut in the Pittsburgh market high above Racetrack Road. It will occupy 5,000 square feet.

Two Pennsylvania Department of Transportation employees who serve Washington and Greene counties were honored recently.

Brian N. Malik and Mandy Fike were among 25 workers who received Star of Excellence awards, PennDOT’s highest recognition. They were feted May 27 during a luncheon at the governor’s residence in Harrisburg.

Malik and Fike work for PennDOT’s District 12, which also encompasses Fayette and Westmoreland counties. Malik is a highway foreman for Washington County, which has its own in-house paving, base repair and chipping crews. He has supervised each. Fike is a construction cost manager.

The awards are made annually.
