“Stars and Stripes in the Park” will begin at noon Saturday at Richardson Park.
Food vendors will be featured throughout the day. JayJay DJ will perform from 1 p.m. to close, with face-painting and balloon artists from 3 to 5 p.m. and a petting zoo from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The DOO DADS, a trio featuring Keith Wilson, Stush and Steve, also will perform.
Fireworks begin at dusk.
The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. July 3 at Patsy Hillman Park, 100 Hillman Park Drive, Luzerne Township, with the presentation of colors and American flag-raising ceremony by local Scouts.
The Mon Valley Community Band will entertain the crowd with a medley of patriotic songs from 7 p.m. until dusk, when fireworks begin. Local high school students who competed in the Brownsville Rotary Club’s Stars on Stage Talent Show also will perform.
There will be free face-painting, a candy scramble for youngsters and bounce house, and patriotic trinkets will be sold to support community programs.

The annual parade will begin at 10 a.m. July Fourth in downtown Canonsburg. Chairs can be placed 48 hours in advance of the start of the parade.
Fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m. behind Canon-McMillan Stadium. Due to construction at the stadium, spectators will not be permitted in or around the stadium.
Community Day featuring music, a parade, kids’ area and car cruise will begin at noon July 3 at Charleroi Chamber Plaza, 500 McKean Ave. Fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m.
The township will celebrate its 225th anniversary Sunday with fireworks at dusk at Arnold Park, 2013 Community Center Drive.
Fredericktown Area Chamber of Commerce will host its 10th annual Riverfest and Firework Spectacular July 3. Festivities began at 2 p.m. along the Mon River bank, near the library and municipal building.
A barnyard petting zoo will be available from 5 to 8 p.m. The Jades, a classic rock band, will perform from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., and LuLu the Clown will entertain the crowd from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:30.
