Brackets for the WPIAL baseball playoffs were released Friday afternoon with few surprises. California grabbed the top seed in Class A, Washington’s struggles made them slide into a tough first-round matchup and Canon-McMillan’s resurgence earned them a favorable spot in Quad-A.

Tuesday, May 12:
No. 10 Carmichaels (12-3) vs. No. 7 Sewickley Academy (8-6) at Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair, 2 p.m.
No. 12 Bentworth (14-4) vs. No. 5 Serra Catholic (14-5) at North Allegheny, 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 13:
No. 7 Canon-McMillan (13-6) vs. No. 10 Shaler (15-4) at North Allegheny, 6:30 p.m.
No. 14 Waynesburg (10-4) vs. No. 2 Neshannock (12-5) at Burkett Sports Complex, 4:30 p.m.
No. 13 Washington (9-5) vs. No. 4 Riverside (14-3) at North Allegheny, 4 p.m.
