Roethlisberger feeling good

Ben Roethlisberger said that he has no swelling in his left foot and that he’ll dump the special shoe he wore two weeks ago when the Steelers played the Cleveland Browns.
Roethlisberger, you’ll recall, didn’t start that game because of the sprained foot. But he’s pretty healthy right now – or as he noted, as healthy as you can be playing football in late November.
The Steelers need him to stay that way.
Roethlisberger has already been taken off the field on a cart twice this season. The Steelers can’t afford for that to happen a third time.
Roethlisberger will keep wearing a brace on his previously injured left knee, an injury that caused him to miss four starts.
@ I sat in for David Todd on Tuesday and Wednesday on ESPN 970 and on Wednesday had John Clayton of ESPN on the show.
I asked him if he felt if Brock Osweiler led the Denver Broncos to a win over New England this weekend if there would be pressure on the coaching staff to keep him as the starter and Peyton Manning on the bench.
He said there’s a possibility that even if Osweiler doesn’t beat the Patriots there’s a good chance of that happening, especially if he plays turnover free as he did last week in a win over Chicago.
That’s noteworthy for the Steelers, who host Denver Dec. 20.
Manning has been a turnover machine this season, but when he’s recovered from a foot injury that currently has him sidelined, there will be pressure to put one of the all-time greats back in the game.
But with Denver’s defense – one of the best in the league – you want a quarterback who will take care of the football.
Keep an eye on that situation.
@ Roethlisberger said he wouldn’t shy away from throwing at any particular player in Seattle’s secondary, particularly if that player was Antonio Brown being covered by Richard Sherman.
It’s not that Roethlisberger doesn’t respect Sherman. He has a great deal of trust in Brown.
As he said, he’s not going to look away from a guy he feels is the best receiver in football just because he has a tough matchup.
Sherman, by the way, does not have an interception this season and Seattle has four as a team.
@ FYI of the week: Pittsburgh’s defense ranks 5th in the NFL in points against at 19.1. Seattle is seventh at 19.2.
@ Who I like on Thursday: Take Detroit, Carolina and Green Bay in the Thanksgiving day games.
Happy Thanksgiving.
