EVANSVILLE – Randy McCurry got a popout to third base with the tying runs on second and third as Evansville held on to beat Washington, 5-3, Tuesday night in a Frontier League game.
Logan Exa had already driven in one run in the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch before McCurry got the final out for the Otters (36-29), getting Kyle Pollock to pop out to first base.
Uxa drove in all three runs for the Wild Things (32-32), recording three of Washington’s six hits. Washington fell 4 1/2 games behind Joliet in the East Division standings with the loss.
Luke Wilkins took the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, on 10 hits in six innings.
Preston Olson got the win, allowing two runs in six innings for Evansville. Christopher Riopedre drove in two runs for the Otters.
