After grabbing two more wins last week, Jefferson-Morgan maintained its spot in PennLive.com’s final PIAA girls basketball rankings of the regular season.
The Rockets (14-0, 20-1), who secured the program’s first outright section title, are ranked third in PIAA Class A and are one of four WPIAL teams that are in the top 10. North Catholic jumped to the top spot after defeating second-ranked Vincentian Academy last weeek.
Jefferson-Morgan will likely enter the WPIAL playoffs as a No. 3 or No. 4 seed, and I have the Rockets playing Imani Christian, which is led by freshman Cali Konek, in the first round. Their section rival, West Greene (16-6) is still listed in the honorable mention, despite losing twice last week.
In Class AAAA, Peters Township (18-3) jumpe back into the top 10 and is ranked ninth. The Indians defeated Upper St. Clair to secure the Section 4-AAAA title with Canon-McMillan (14-6), which madde honorable mention. Other WPIAL teams ranked in Quad-A are Norwin (1), North Allegheny (3) and Penn Hills (5).
In Class AAA, South Fayette (17-3) is still ranked third and is the top-ranked WPIAL team. Trinity (17-3) remains seventh after grabbing three wins last week.
In Class AA, Chartiers-Houston (16-6) and Washington (18-4) are honorable mention. Bishop Canevin (18-4) is the only WPIAL team in the top 10.
Monessen (19-3) remains second in the PIAA Class A boys basketball rankings by cityofbasketballlove.com. The Greyhounds could not unseat Kennedy Catholic (18-2), which has been ranked first all season.
Though no other boys basketball teams cracked the top 10, Washington is listed as a team to watch in Class AA.
