Caroline and Robert McElheny and family visited the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory on the Plains of San Agustin, west of Socorro, N.M., while vacationing in New Mexico and Arizona. The VLA has 27 radio telescopes, which can be moved into different configurations. It was used for a scene in the movie "Contact."
