For the third consecutive year, Monongahela Valley Hospital achieved five stars for its performance in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) from Healthgrades. A 5-star rating indicates that statistically MVH’s clinical outcomes are significantly better than expected when treating COPD.

“Earning the 5-Star designation for three consecutive years confirms that Monongahela Valley Hospital’s COPD therapies are among the best in the country,” says Louis J. Panza Jr., MVH’s president and CEO. “This past year, we introduced our Community Care Network, which focuses on seamlessly transitioning patients at risk for readmission, including those with COPD, to the next step in their care.”

“Hospitals that have achieved Healthgrades 5-stars in COPD have demonstrated a commitment to exceptional quality care for their patients,” says Evan Marks, Healthgrades’ chief strategy officer. “In an environment where consumers have more choices about where to receive their care, a hospital’s commitment to achieving a superior degree of quality for their patients is more important than ever.”

As a leading online resource, Healthgrades helps consumers make informed decisions to find the right doctor and the right hospital for the right care. This achievement is part of new findings and data released by Healthgrades and is featured in the Healthgrades 2017 Report to the Nation.

Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 34 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions. n
