The Pittsburgh Penguins will make 15 national television appearances on NBC and NBC Sports Network during the 2018-19 regular season, it was announced by the National Hockey League and NBC Sports Monday.

That game is the first of seven times that the Penguins will play on “Wednesday Night Hockey.”One of the marquee “Wednesday Night Hockey” showdowns of the season is Feb. 13 at PPG Paints Arena when the Penguins host Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.

Pittsburgh is scheduled to make two appearances on NBC. The first is Feb. 17 when the penguins host the New York Rangers. Less than a week later, the Penguins will appear on NBC again when they play the Philadelphia Flyers Feb. 23 in the Coors Light Stadium Series game at Lincoln Financial Field.

Things sign Wheeling Jesuit pitcher

The transaction deadline in the Frontier League was Monday and the Wild Things picked up one player, signing pitcher Dillon Sunnafrank, a former pitcher at Wheeling Jesuit University who spent two seasons in independent leagues.

To make room for Sunnafrank, a right-hander, Washington placed left-handed relief pitcher B.J. Sabol on the 60-day disabled list, which ends his season.

Sunnafrank played for Salina in the American Association last year and for two teams in the Can-Am League this season. He has a 2-3 record, four saves and a 4.44 ERA in 34 career games.

Sabol, who was signed in early July out of Indiana University, had a 0-0 record and a 9.00 ERA in 11 outings.

Bills’ McCoy sued

by ex-girlfriend

LeSean McCoy’s ex-girlfriend is suing the Buffalo Bills running back for failing to protect her after she was bloodied, beaten and had $133,000 worth of jewelry stolen during a home invasion last month.

Delicia Cordon also alleged in a lawsuit filed in Fulton County, Georgia on Friday that McCoy would “often brutally beat his dog,” and would also “aggressively, physically discipline and beat his young son.”

Without blaming McCoy for playing a role in the home invasion, Cordon accused him of breaching his duty to protect her because he owned the home. She also alleged McCoy “permitted a hazardous condition to exist” by installing a new security system and cameras and denying her access to arm the system.

Cordon’s face was bloodied during a home invasion in the early hours of July 10.

Woods’ charge sparks strong ratings

The charge by Tiger Woods at the PGA Championship and the two-shot victory by Brooks Koepka drew the highest final-round coverage for the major in nine years.

CBS Sports said Monday that Sunday’s round at Bellerive drew a rating of 6.1 and share of 14 – up 69 percent from last year.

The top viewership market was St. Louis (11.5/24), site of the year’s last major. Fort Myers, Florida, was next, followed by Kansas City, Missouri; Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida; Dayton, Ohio; and West Palm Beach, Fla.

Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned to a program. Shares represent the percentage of all homes with TVs in use at the time.
