Frontier League
to play Can-Am League
The Rockland Boulders will host the 2019 All-Star Game between the Can-Am League and the Frontier League on July 10 at Palisades Credit Union Park in New York. This will mark the first time that these two independent professional baseball leagues will face each other.
Festivities will begin with a Home Run Derby July.
“We consider this a great holiday gift to our fans,” stated Boulders president Shawn Reilly. “It’s a rare opportunity and we’re very appreciative of the Frontier League and Good Samaritan Hospital making it possible. Many of the best independent pro baseball players in the country will be in our park, and we look forward to putting on a first-class event worthy of that talent.”
“Everyone in the Frontier League is excited to play the Can-Am League in the all-star game this year,” noted commissioner Bill Lee. “We are also excited to come to Rockland and the New York market. We want to thank the Boulders organization for hosting this event. It will be tremendous for the fans to see the best players, of two of the oldest and most established independent leagues in the country, showcase their talents. We also believe it is great for the entire independent professional baseball industry that leagues can work together.”

West Virginia (6-4) has lost two of its last three games and is looking for a spark on offense. Sagaba Konate, the team’s second-leading scorer, has missed two games with a sore knee, including an 83-70 loss to Rhode Island on Sunday.
The Mountaineers host Jacksonville State on Saturday.
Redskins’ Nicholson arrested
Washington Redskins safety Montae Nicholson was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with assault and battery and being drunk in public stemming from a fight at a restaurant and retail complex near the team’s practice facility in Ashburn, Virginia.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kraig Troxell confirmed Nicholson’s arrest. He says Tuesday afternoon the 23-year-old had been recently released on $2,500 bond.
Police say Nicholson and 24-year-old Sydney Maggiore were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated to a physical assault of two victims, one man and one woman.
According to police, an investigation showed Nicholson assaulted the male victim, and Maggiore struck the female victim with a bottle and also struck the male victim.
Police say Maggiore was charged with malicious wounding and assault and battery and remains in prison on no bond. According to police, the victims were treated at a hospital for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
