Brown questionable for Cincinnati game

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown is uncertain to play in the team’s biggest game of the season.

Brown was listed as questionable to play in the Steelers’ must-win, regular-season finale at home against Cincinnati on Sunday. He missed all three practices this week with a knee injury, and coach Mike Tomlin said the team sent Brown for further evaluation Friday.

Tomlin said Brown first began experiencing knee discomfort following the team’s loss last Sunday at New Orleans. He caught 14 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns in that game.

head coach Mike Tomlin didn’t rule Brown out of Sunday’s game.

“Obviously, he’s a veteran player,” Tomlin said. “If it gets better, there’s not a lot of physical repetition needed to perform. We’ll see where all of that goes.”

Gurley won’t play

Rams running back Todd Gurley has been ruled out of Los Angeles’ regular-season finale against San Francisco because of a knee injury.

Safety Lamarcus Joyner also won’t play Sunday, Rams coach Sean McVay confirmed Friday.

Gurley will miss his second straight game, but McVay says he isn’t concerned about the star running back’s availability for the playoffs. Los Angeles (12-3) can clinch a first-round postseason bye with a win over the 49ers or a loss by the Chicago Bears.

Gurley is the NFL’s second-leading rusher with 1,251 yards. He is fourth with 1,831 total yards from scrimmage after leading the NFL in the category last season.

Joyner has started all 15 games for Los Angeles, but he has an ankle injury.

Auburn wins

Jarrett Stidham threw for 373 yards and five touchdowns in his final college game , and Auburn routed Purdue 63-14 in the Music City Bowl on Friday in Nashville.

Auburn (8-5) rolled in the finale of a season that opened with a top-10 ranking, stumbled a bit in the middle and concluded with a record-setting performance. It was the Tigers’ first postseason victory since beating Memphis in the 2015 Birmingham Bowl.

Auburn scored the most points by a Southeastern Conference team in a bowl, topping Alabama’s 61-6 win over Syracuse in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 1, 1953. The Tigers had a chance to match the most points ever scored in a bowl at 70, most recently by Army in the Armed Forces Bowl last week, but they took a knee at the Purdue 1 with 61 seconds left.
