Classic releases

U.S. Team

The Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic released the United State’s team Monday and it appears Gavin Teasdale will get a rematch with Patrick Glory.

Glory, a senior from Delbarton High School in Randolph, N.J., is looking for his second state title and will compete at 126 pounds for the U.S. Team. He defeated Teasdale, a three-time state champion from Jefferson-Morgan, 3-0, in the preseason “Who’s No. 1” wrestling tournament in Bethlehem in October.

Teasdale was an early selection for the Pennsylvania Team and is expected to compete at 126 pounds. The remaining roster will be named after the PIAA Championship.

The WPIAL Team wrestles Iowa at 4 p.m., followed by the United States-Pennsylvania match at 6 p.m.

The event will be March 25 at Pitt’s Fitzgerald Field House.

Roman Bravo-Young, a Penn State University recruit from Sunnyside High School in Tucson, Ariz., is at 136 pounds.

The U.S. Team roster is in the Scoreboard section on Page C2.

Super Bowl

ratings down

An estimated 103.4 million people watched the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, the smallest audience for television’s biggest yearly event since 2009.

The Nielsen company says viewership was down from last year’s audience of 111.3 million. The all-time record for Super Bowl viewing was 114.4 million for the Seattle-New England game in 2015.

The NFL’s viewership has been down this season, and so has television watching in general. The decline came despite a thrilling game that was competitive from beginning to end.

Meanwhile, the post-game episode of “This is Us” was seen by 27 million people, the most-watched entertainment program after the Super Bowl in six years.

Suspect in player’s death deported twice

A man being held in a suspected drunken-driving crash that killed Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson and his Uber driver has been twice deported from the United States- a revelation an Indiana congressman said Monday should anger “all Americans.”

Manuel Orrego-Savala, 37, remained jailed Monday but has not been charged in Sunday’s deadly crash along Interstate 70 in Indianapolis. State Police said Monday that he’s a citizen of Guatemala who gave officers a fake name when he was arrested following the pre-dawn crash.

Investigators said he was deported in 2007 and 2009, and was again living illegally in the U.S.

Police said Jackson, who grew up in Atlanta, and Uber driver Jeffrey Monroe, 54, were standing outside Monroe’s car along I-70 after Jackson became ill while Monroe was transporting him for the ride-hailing company.

Both men were struck and killed by a pickup truck driven by Orrego-Savala, police said. Investigators said they believe Orrego-Savala, who lives in Indianapolis, was intoxicated and driving without a license.

In college basketball

Tyus Battle scored 25 points to lead Syracuse to a 78-73 victory over Louisville Monday night.

Syracuse (5-6, 16-8) never trailed in the final 28:58 as they snapped a two-game losing streak. However, the Cardinals (6-5, 16-8) made it interesting down the stretch against the Orange, who had just six healthy scholarship players and played just seven.

In the NHL

Ryan Johansen scored the tying goal in the final minute of regulation, and Roman Josi scored the winner 3:42 into overtime to rally the Nashville past the New York Islanders 5-4 Monday night.
