West Greene used a balanced offense led by McKenna Lampe’s 15 points, to beat visiting California, 55-45, Saturday afternoon in a non-section girls basketball game between playoff-bound teams.
The win was the school-record 20th for West Greene (20-1) but the Pioneers had to come from behind to do it. California (13-7) took a 24-23 lead into halftime.
West Greene, however, roared back to take a five-point lead after three quarters. The key for the West Greene attack was balance as five players scored at least eight points. Madison Lampe joined her sister in double figures with 12 points. Elizabeth Brudnock had nine points, and Kaitlyn Rizor and Jersey Wide each contributed eight.
Bailey Vig had a game-high 16 points for California and Grace Roberts scored 11.
Charleroi 73, Frazier 41: Charleroi scored 27 first-quarter points, and 67 through three quarters, en route to a 73-41 thumping of host Frazier in a non-section game.
The Cougars (18-3) had their offense in high gear from the start, forging a 27-12 lead after one quarter and leading 47-18 at halftime.
Sierra Short led Charleroi with 20 points. Kaitlyn Riley followed with 19 points and Bella Skobel had 15. Guard Aislyn Lee had 12 assists to lead the Cougars’ floor game.
Sierra Twigg scored a game-high 21 points for Frazier (13-9).
Washington 70, Monessen 29: Carley Allen scored 21 points and Washington used a 40-point second half to defeat Monessen, 70-29, in a non-section game.
Playoff-bound Washington improved its record to 14-9 entering the regular-season finale Monday at home against McGuffey.
Allen led three Wash High players in double figures. Torri Finley netted 14 points and freshman Kyla Woods scored 10.
Monessen (3-18) was led in scoring by freshman Sydney Caterino with 14 points.

Propel Andrew Street 57, West Greene 46: Turnovers tormented West Greene in the first half as the Pioneers fell behind too big, too early as they fell to Propel Andrew Street, 57-46, in a non-section game.
The early miscues from West Greene (8-14) led to transition points and a 31-15 halftime deficit.
Powered by Darrius Davis and Dwayne Cousar, Propel (15-5) outscored the Pioneers again in the third quarter to lead 47-26. A deficit too large that even a 20-point fourth quarter for West Greene wasn’t enough.
Davis finished with 15 points, while Cousar scored 11.
Gavin Scott led all scorers with 21 points for West Greene. Nathan Brudnock had a solid performance with 17 points.
In other games: Montour was a 73-50 winner over visiting South Fayette in a non-section boys game. The Lions’ record falls to 14-7.
