Mon River Valley Coalition meeting will be held at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the California University of Pennsylvania Kara Alumni Center. The meeting will conclude by 9:15 a.m. Refreshments will be provided. The group will finalize 2018 priorities.

Peters Township has acquired half of the old Rolling Hills property to develop as a new community park, recently named “Rolling Hills Park.” Working with Mackin Engineering on the master plan for this new site, the township is nearing the end of this process and is asking residents to attend the public hearing set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, in Peters Township Council chambers, to offer input on the proposed master plan. The Genealogy Society of Southwestern Pennsylvania, in conjunction with North Hills Genealogists and the Consortium of Genealogical Societies, will present a live webinar by Blaine Bettinger, Ph.D., on “Understanding Ethnicity Estimates.” The webinar will take place at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Citizens Library in Washington. Doors open at 6:15. Bettinger will discuss how ethnicity results are created and how accurate they are, comparing ethnicity results at the big five testing companies, their limitations and their use in research. The webinar will help those who have had their DNA tested understand their results. This is a free program.

The Washington Camera Club meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, in Room 104, Courthouse Square. Members are requested to submit up to four prints for print critique. Additional prints are needed for the library display window.
