Peters Township 49, Upper St. Clair 38: Makenna Marisa scored 9 of her game-high 21 points in the critical third quarter to propel Peters Township to a 49-38 victory over Upper St. Clair in Section 3 of Class 6A.

The win moves the first-place Indians to 15-2 and 7-1 in the section. Peters Township gets a rematch against Mt. Lebanon Thursday evening and a chance to avenge a 44-43 loss to the Blue Devils. The Indians have won five in a row and eight of the last nine.

Peters Township went 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the second half, wiping away a 19-18 deficit at halftime. PT was 11 of 14 for the game. Lillian Young and Isabella Mills each scored 13 points for the visiting Indians.

Kennedy Bayer led Upper St. Clair (4-4, 8-8) with 11 points.

Charleroi 68, Waynesburg 26: Sierra Short had a double-double to help Charleroi overwhelm Waynesburg, 68-26, in a Section 2 game in Class AAA.

Short had a season-high 19 points to go with 12 rebounds for the Cougars (9-1, 16-2), who led 21-6 after one and 34-16 at halftime. Kaitlyn Riley scored a game-high 20 points, Bella Skobel tossed in 13 points, Maria Claybaugh added 12 points and Aislyn Lee chipped in with 11 assists.

Waynesburg fell to 4-13, 1-7 in the section. Jordan Sibert led the Raiders with 11 points.

SS Beaver 56, McGuffey 39: Four players reached double figures as South Side Beaver ran past McGuffey, 56-39, in a Section 2 game in Class AAA.

Sid Payne led all scorers with 18 points for the host Rams (6-4, 11-6). Jess Barber tossed in 12 points, Carissa McNery 12 and Rachel Pieto 11 for SSB.

Mikalah Maxwell and Abby Donnelly each scored 10 points for McGuffey (1-8, 4-14).

Mapletown 63, Hundred 22: Kayla Smith contributed a double-double to help Mapletown rout Hundred in a non-section game.

Smith scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Mapletown (8-11). Bree Switalski tossed in 14 points and Morgan Williamson added 11 points.

Katherine Henderson led Hundred with seven points.

Belle Vernon 60, Derry 37:  Kelsey Green had a double-double to help Belle Vernon power past Derry 60-37 in a Section 3 game in Class 4A.

Green had 13 points and 15 rebounds for Belle Vernon (10-1, 15-4). Rachel Wobrak chipped in with 13 points.

Derry (1-10, 1-16) was led by Kelly Kamryn’s 14 points.

Boy Results

Jeff-Morgan 73, Avella 42: Jefferson-Morgan sank 11 three-point field goals during a 73-42 rout of Avella in a non-section game.

Jalen Torres scored 25 points with the help of five threes for Jeff-Morgan (8-1). D.L. Garrett scored 23 points with three three-pointer and Devin Stoneking had 18 points and two from behind the arc.

Zack Cannon scored 12 points on four threes for Avella (2-12) and Matt Craig added 10 points.
