James Harris and Louis Mele each hit a grand slam, Daniel Garmendia pitched seven strong innings and Washington scored nine runs in the fifth inning Thursday night en route to a 23-1 victory over Traverse City and a sweep of the three-game series at Wild Things Park.

The 23 runs ties the franchise record for the most in a game, set back in 2003 against Cook County.

The Wild Things, who have won four in a row, sent 14 batters to plate in the fifth and turned a 2-1 lead into an 11-1 edge. Harris hit his grand slam, the first by a Washington player this season, in the sixth inning. An inning later, Mele belted his grand slam as Washington scored 21 runs over a three-inning stretch.

Garmendia (2-2) gave up four hits, two walks an one unearned run. He struck out six.

Kyle Pollock (4-for-4) and Carter Mceachern (3-for-4) were the only two Washington players with more than two hits.
