Pirates’ Dickerson wins Gold Glove

Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Ian Kinsler have won Gold Gloves for the World Series champion Boston Red Sox.

It’s the third straight for Betts in right field. Kinsler got his second Gold Glove at second base, and Bradley won for the first time in center.

The prizes for defensive excellence were announced Sunday night.

Oakland and Colorado each had two Gold Glove winners in the infield. First baseman Matt Olson and third baseman Matt Chapman were recognized for the Athletics, and second baseman D.J. LeMahieu and third baseman Nolan Arenao won for the Rockies.

Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons and Royals left fielder Alex Gordon also won in the AL.

Anthony Rizzo of the Cubs and Freddie Freeman of the Braves tied for the NL award at first. Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed, Pirates left fielder Corey Dickerson, Braves center fielder Ender Inciarte and Braves right fielder Nick Markakis also won in the NL.

Pitt-Virginia Tech time set

Pitt’s final home game of the season, Saturday against Virginia Tech, will be televised by ESPNU and kick off at 3:30 p.m., the Atlantic Coast Conference announced.

The game will have Coastal Division championship implications. The Panthers are currently atop the Coastal with a 4-1 ACC record. The Hokies are in third place with a 3-2 conference record.

In the NBA

Giannis Antetokounmpo had his second triple-double this season with 26 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists to help the Milwaukee Bucks rout the Sacramento Kings 144-109 Sunday.

The Bucks improved to 8-1 – the best nine-game start in franchise history. They set a season high for points in a game and also set the franchise record for 3s made with 22.

  • John Wall scored 26 points and Bradley Beal added 22 as the Washington Wizards broke a five-game losing streak with a 108-95 win over the New York Knicks.

Markieff Morris had 16 points and Jeff Green added 14 for Washington, which won for the second time in nine games.

  • D’Angelo Russell snapped out of a slump with 13 of his 21 points in the second half, and the Brooklyn Nets kept the sloppy Philadelphia 76ers winless on the road with a 122-97 victory.

The 76ers committed 28 turnovers, most in the NBA this season, leading to 39 points for the Nets. They fell to 0-5 away from home. They are 6-0 in Philadelphia.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson also scored 21 points and Caris LeVert had 20 for the Nets. They took a small lead into halftime thanks to 17 Philadelphia turnovers, then blew it open with a 41-point third quarter that was one of the biggest in Barclays Center history.
