The Pittsburgh Penguins have reduced their training camp roster to 45 players.

Forwards Fredrik Tiffels and Troy Josephs, defensemen Dane Birks and Joe Masonius and goaltender Anthony Peters have all been assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

Six players have been returned to their junior teams. Heading back to the Western Hockey League are forward Jordy Bellerive and defenseman Calen Addison (Lethbridge) and forward Justin Almeida (Moose Jaw). Goaltender Alex D’Orio (Saint John) and forward Jan Drozg (Shawinigan) are going back to teams in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Defenseman Antti Palojarvi is returning to Lukko of Finland’s SM-Liiga.

Pittsburgh’s current 45-man training camp roster includes 27 forwards, 14 defensemen and four goaltenders. This weekend the Penguins will play back-to-back afternoon home games at PPG Paints Arena. Pittsburgh will host the Columbus Blue Jackets Saturday and the Detroit Red Wings Sunday. Both games start at 3 p.m.

Sydney Urbine scored four goals, including her 50th career tally, as Beth-Center blanked Albert Gallatin 5-0 Thursday in a non-section match.

Allison Dobrinski scored the other goal for Beth-Center (3-4) and goalkeeper Mikayla Knalis kept AG (0-8) winless.

‘I was happy with today. We were patient and moved the ball well,” said Bentworth coach Tyler Hamstra. “Our midfield of Lindsay Davis, Caroline Rice and Caitlin Marton really controlled the game. It was nice to see us play with a little more possession and connect passers. Our midfielders don’t always get the credit they deserve.”

McGuffey is 1-2, 1-3.
