Quarterback Austin Kendall led the Gold team to a pair of touchdowns and a field goal during West Virginia’s Gold-Blue Spring Game at Milan Puskar Stadium.

The Oklahoma transfer was 5-for-8 for 109 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown to T.J. Simmons in the first quarter of the 96-play split-squad scrimmage.

Kendall also had a 39-yard completion to Sam James that led to Casey Legg’s24-yard field goal, and the junior finished another Gold touchdown drive by scoring from the 1.

Trey Lowe directed the final Gold score, a 28-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Spalding on the last play of the scrimmage.

Lowe completed 6 of 11 for 96 yards.

Jack Allison, quarterbacking the Blue team, completed 11 of 24 for 112 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown to Randy Fields late in the second quarter.

Neither team had much success running the football. Leddie Brown was the leading rusher with 34 yards.

Attendance was listed at 18,865, the third-largest for a WVU spring game.

Stevens sits out PSU game: Blue defeated White 24-7 in Penn State football’s spring scrimmage at Beaver Stadium.

Senior quarterback Tommy Stevens did not play as head coach James Franklin chose not to utilize his probable starting quarterback and risk injury. Sean Clifford had a strong game in place of Stevens. The sophomore passed for 118 yards and one touchdown, and rushed for 31 yards.

Freshman running back Noah Cain scored a touchdown for both teams.
