A missing person was found dead in the Monongahela River Saturday.
Lonzo C. Gardner, 62, of Monessen was discovered by dive team members during a planned search just before noon Saturday after having not been seen for multiple days, according to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office.
Gardner was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Jonathon W. Jenkins at the scene, according to the coroner’s office, which added that Dr. Cyril H. Wecht and Pathology Associates would perform an autopsy Sunday and that toxicology results will not be available for several weeks.
Gardner was found near the Donora-Monessen Bridge in Rostraver Township, the coroner’s office said, also noting that House of Law Funeral Home in Penn Hills will be in charge of arrangements.
