A former school bus driver for the Monessen School District was indicted by a federal grand jury for possession of child pornography.
Jack Brian Laforte, 54, of Monessen faces a single count of possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a release from the office of Scott Brady, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Federal prosecutors allege Laforte had videos and computer images of minors involved in sexual conduct on June 14. Some of the participants were younger than 12, prosecutors said.
If anyone has any information involving Laforte, they’re asked to contact the Homeland Security Investigations tip line at 866-347-2423.
Brady said Laforte could face up to 10 years in prison, a life of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The superintendent with the Monessen City School District could not be reached for comment.
