Marcus Weathers had 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead five Duquesne players in double figures as the Dukes beat Fordham 74-66 on Saturday. Sincere Carry added 14 points for the Dukes. Eric Williams Jr. chipped in 12, Michael Hughes scored 11 and Tavian Dunn-Martin had 10. Hughes also had 12 rebounds for the Dukes.

Waynesburg wins PAC wrestling title
Back in 2010, then second-year head coach Ron Headlee led the Waynesburg University wrestling team to its first-ever Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) championship.
Since that victory, the Yellow Jackets had wrapped up five more championships heading into Friday night’s event at Thiel’s Beeghly Gymnasia. With all due respect to those previous championship teams, what occurred in Greenville this year may go down as the most memorable night in the modern history of the program.
The Jackets not only won a team-record third straight title, but did so in dramatic comeback fashion that was capped by senior heavyweight Jake Evans making NCAA history in the championship-sealing bout at 285 pounds.
Evans, who went into the tournament leading the NCAA in pins, stuck Walker in just 1:23 for a victory that will go down in history as the one that gave him an all-divisions record 175 collegiate wins. The returning national champion and No. 1-ranked heavyweight in Division III picked up his second fall of the night to win his fourth PAC title, the third wrestler to do so under Headlee (Alex Crown 2010-2013, Luke Lohr 2012-2015).
Headlee picked up his seventh PAC Coach of the Year award for guiding his team through the memorable comeback. Evans was tabbed PAC Most Outstanding Wrestler for a second time in his illustrious collegiate career.
“I am so proud of this group of wrestlers. They just kept fighting,” Headlee said. “We were down early and weren’t scoring early in the tournament, but they kept believing in themselves. It’s pretty special to have a Jake Evans to turn to clinch another title. I also want to give my coaching staff a ton of credit. They had our team ready to wrestle.”
