W&J adds
to football staff
Mike Schuff was added to the Washington & Jefferson football coaching staff, the school announced Thursday. Schuff will be the Presidents’ special teams coordinator. He will also serve as the assistant recruiting coordinator and will help with some defensive responsibilities.
Schuff joins the Presidents after spending last year as the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Thiel. He also coached Akron and at Augustana.
Schuff’s first coaching stop was at his alma mater, Mount Union, where he was the running backs and tight ends coach from 2013-16. He was part of a Purple Raiders program that made three consecutive trips to the NCAA Division III national championship game, which included winning the national title in 2015.
Prior to coaching, Schuff was a player on the Mount Union football team until an injury forced him to become a student assistant. A 2013 graduate of Mount Union, Schuff is a native of Wexford and a Pine-Richland High School graduate.

Phils get bullpen help
The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to a two-year contract with reliever David Robertson.
Terms of the deal, which also includes a club option for the 2021 season, were not announced Thursday. Robertson, 33, went 8-3 with a 3.23 ERA and five saves in 69 games last season for the New York Yankees.
An 11-year veteran and 2011 All-Star, Robertson has appeared in at least 60 games in nine straight seasons.
The right-hander could compete for the closer’s role in Philadelphia, which hasn’t made the playoffs since 2011. Seranthony Dominguez led the Phillies with just 16 saves last season.
