Donald L. Amon Jr. of Cushing, Okla., received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Oklahoma State University. Dr. Amon, Ed.D., is a 1983 graduate of Washington High School. He is currently the mayor or Cushing and assistant principal of Cushing Middle School. His wife, Melissa, also received her Doctorate in Educational Administration Curriculum and Supervision from Oklahoma State University. She is the director of student and instructional services of the Cushing Schools. They have two sons, Zachary of Tulsa, Okla., and Zane, who is presently enrolled in the University of Central Oklahoma. Dr. Amon’s parents are Reverend Donald L. Amon Sr. and Joan of Washington.
Taylor Wall, daughter of Beth and Donald Wall of Canonsburg, was named to the fall president’s list at the University of Pittsburgh-Titusville. A dental hygiene major, she is a 2018 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.
Michelle Lea George of Pittsburgh received her Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Leadership (CTLL) from Northeastern University of Professional Studies. The topic of her dissertation was “Narrowing the Cultural Divide: Preparing Culturally Responsive Educators by Instituting Transformative Pedagogical Pre-service Training Programs.” Michelle earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration, both from Point Park University, and a Master of Science in Physical Education from West Virginia University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Education from Slippery Rock University. Michelle is a Health Family and Consumer Science/Health/Freshman Seminar Teacher/Graduation Project Coordinator for the Avonworth School District. She earned Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Teaching Certificates in Health Education and Family and Consumer Science, and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Administrative Certificates in Principal K-12 and Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction K-12. A 1989 graduate of Ringgold High School, Michelle is the daughter of Mike and Debbie George of Eighty Four.
Mary Fritz, daughter of Carl and Tracie Fritz of Washington, was named to the fall dean’s list at California University of Pennsylvania with a 4.0 GPA. A 2016 graduate of Trinity High School, she is a member of the Cal U women’s rugby team, vice president of the Criminal Justice Honor Society, and a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. Mary will graduate in the spring.
Morgan Dubich, daughter of Lauri and Robert Dubich of Washington, graduated magna cum laude from California University of Pennsylvania with dual degrees in psychology and sociology. She is a member of Psi Chi-National Honor Society in Psychology, Sigma Alpha Pi-National Society of Leadership and Success and Pi Gamma Mu-International Honor Society in Social Sciences. A 2015 graduate of Avella Junior/Senior High School, she is the granddaughter of Doris Bertovich of Wellsburg, W.Va., the late Ray O. Simons Jr., and Thomas and Judy Dubich of Burgettstown.
Maci Ward, daughter of Brian and Sherie Ward and a 2018 graduate of Washington High School, was named to the fall dean’s list at Washington and Jefferson College, with a 3.5 grade point average. She is a psychology major on the pre-health track, and also a member of student government, ASAP and a President cheerleader. Maci is the granddaughter of Norma Moore and George and Linda Ward.
Rebecca Turney, a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School and daughter of Bill and Lori Turney, was named to the fall dean’s list at Eastern Michigan University, where she is studying for her BSN in Nursing.
