Pirates defeat Red Sox

Nick Kingham pitched four scoreless innings and the Pirates had 14 hits in a 6-1 win over the Boston Red Sox Wednesday afternoon.
Kingham put together his best start of the spring allowing two hits and striking out three through his four innings. It was the start of a solid day for the Pittsburgh pitching staff by only surrendering three hits.
JB Shuck and Colin Moran each went 2-for-2 for the Pirates. Moran, who scored a pair of runs, opened the scoring with an RBI single to score Jung Ho Kang.
The Pirates had 14 hits to improve to 6-5 in Grapefruit League play. Boston falls to 6-6.
Pittsburgh plays a 1:05 p.m. game against Balimore today at Bradenton. The Pirates have split squad games Friday against Toronto.
