BASKETBALL CAMP

Waynesburg University will host its “Hoopin’ with the Jackets” basketball skills camp this summer at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. The camp will run from June 3 through June 7.

The camp is split into two sessions. Session 1 is for students entering grades 3 through 5 and will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Session 2 is for students entering grades 6 through 9 and runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Each camper will receive individual attention and will be encouraged to learn new skills, as well as to build upon previously learned abilities. Team building concepts will be taught. The philosophy of the event is to teach young people in the knowledge of and enjoyment for the game of basketball. Participants will also receive a camp T-shirt and have the opportunity to win various prizes.

Waynesburg University men’s basketball coach Mark Christner, who earned recognition as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year in 2014, will be assisted by his players and staff at the camp. The group will instruct attendees on the fundamentals of shooting, footwork, ball-handling, basic offense movements and team defense.

Cost for the camp is $85 per individual. The camp brochure is available on the men’s basketball home page at www.waynesburgsports.com.
