MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team has earned the No. 15 national seed and will host the four-team Morgantown Regional in the NCAA tournament. The regional will run from Friday through Monday at Monongalia County Ballpark.

The Mountaineers (37-20) have earned their 13th NCAA tournament berth in program history. WVU will host a regional for the second time in school history and first since 1955.

West Virginia, seeded No. 1 in its regional, opens play against Atlantic 10 champion Fordham (38-22) on Friday at 8 p.m. The opening game Friday will match No. 2-seed Texas A&M (37-21-1) and No. 3-seed Duke (31-25) at 4 p.m.

On Saturday the winners of Friday’s games will meet at 7 p.m., while the losers will play at 2 p.m. in an elimination game. On Sunday, the winner of Saturday’s elimination game and the loser of Saturday’s winner’s bracket contest will square off at noon, with the winner advancing to the Regional Final to face the winner of Saturday’s winner’s bracket game at 6 p.m. If necessary, a seventh game will be played on Monday, at 4 p.m.

The Mountaineers are 17-5 at home. Their 37 wins are tied for second-most in program history.

Texas A&M will be the first SEC baseball team to ever play baseball at WVU.

The Morgantown Regional winner will advance to a Super Regional against the winner of a regional that is being hosted by Vanderbilt (49-10), the No. 2 national seed.

Pac-12 champion UCLA is the No. 1 national seed. The Bruins (47-8) won every series for the first time in program history and carry a 10-game winning streak into the tournament.
