Zack Swartz had a hand in five touchdowns to propel Washington to a 56-14 victory over Beth-Center in a Class 2A Century Conference game Friday night at Wash High Stadium.
Washington moved to 5-0 in the conference and 8-0 overall. The Prexies have two conference games remaining, both on the road, next Friday at playoff-bound Southmoreland and at undefeated McGuffey in two weeks.
Beth-Center fell to 0-6 and 0-8 overall.
Swartz had runs of 1, 33 and 54 yards and passed for two touchdowns, both to Caleb Jackson. Tayshawn Levy, Isaiah Edwards and Shaliek Cox also scored. Swartz hit 5 of 6 passes for 101 yards and rushed for 125 yards. Levy ran for 117 yards on 12 carries and Jackson caught 4 passes for 93 yards.
Devin Dingle scored both TDs for Beth-Center.
Burgettstown 44, Mohawk 0
Burgettstown’s defense produced four turnovers and quarterback Jake Lounder had 189 total yards in a 44-0 victory over winless Mohawk in a non-conference game.
Lounder scored on runs of 43 and 12 yards and hit Cole Shergi on a 34-yard TD for the Blue Devils (7-0). Lounder rushed for 112 yards on 7 carries and threw for 77 yards. Cyle Conley had a pair of 3-yard scoring runs. Turner Lehman returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown and 37-0 halftime lead.
Mohawk is 0-8.
South Fayette 21, Highlands 18
South Fayette was held scoreless in the second half but managed to pull out a 21-18 victory over Highlands in a Class 4A Northwest Eight Conference game.
Andrew Franklin scored on a 4-yard run 3:55 before halftime to give the Lions (5-0, 6-1) a 21-6 halftime lead. But Highlands (2-4, 2-5) scored a touchdown in the third and fourth, the latter on a 75-yard interception return with 7:49 to play by Brock White. Highlands missed all three point-after attempt.
Charley Rossi and Joey Audia caught first quarter TD passes from Naman Alemada, who was 19 of 33 for 255 yards. Audia had eight catches for 134 yards.
Chandler Timmons threw two TDs to John Crise for Highlands.
California 67, Bentworth 34
Cochise Ryan ran for 201 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries, passed for another score and tacked on a two-point conversion run, powering California to a wild 67-34 victory over Bentworth in the Tri-County South Conference.
Ryan scored on runs of 51, 2, 11 and 4 yards and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Lucas Qualk, who also had a 24-yard scoring run.
There was plenty of offense to go around in this one. Bentworth’s Shawn Dziak completed 16 of 32 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns. Owen Petrisek caught seven passes for 107 yards, including scoring tosses of 22, 33, 15 and 8 yards. he also intercepted a pass.
Seth Adams had a touchdown runs for Bentworth (2-4, 2-6).
Damani Stafford had scoring runs of 4 and 19 yards for Cal (4-1, 5-3). Colton Lusk had a 17-yard touchdown jaunt.
Chartiers-Houston 40, Avella 0
Anthony Lento threw three touchdown passes, including two in the first quarter to Jimmy Sadler, as Chartiers-Houston cruised to a 40-0 victory over Avella in the Class A Tri-County South Conference.
The win keeps Chartiers-Houston (5-1, 6-2) in the playoff hunt.
Lento threw TD passes of 18 and 38 yards to Sadler and connected with Carson Whitfield on a 2-yard score in the third quarter that gave the Bucs a 27-0 lead. lento completed 11 of 18 passes for 172 yards.
Sam DeWalt had a five-yard TD run and picked up a fumble and returned it 60 yards for a score in the fourth quarter.
Tayvian Miller capped the scoring with a 15-yard TD run.
Avella (0-5, 1-7) was held to 60 total yards.
Belle Vernon 40, West Mifflin 7
Jared Hartman ran for two touchdowns and passed for two others, and Devin Whitlock scored two times as Belle Vernon rolled over West Mifflin 40-7 in the Class 4A Big Eight Conference.
Hartman had TD runs of three and one yards, and threw scoring passes of 23 yards to Whitlock and 17 yards to Nolan Labuda as Belle Vernon improved to 5-1 in the conference and 6-1 overall.
Hartman completed eight of 14 passes for 123 yards and set the school’s single-season record for touchdown passes.
Whitlock returned an interception 57 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
Larry Callaway rushed for 79 yards on 14 carries for Belle Vernon.
West Mifflin (3-1, 4-4) has lost two in a row.
Monessen 24, Mapletown 8
Isaiah Beltram threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Monessen stopped Mapletown, 24-8, in a Class A Tri-County South Conference game.
Antwon Tucker and Jalen Brice caught TD passes for Monessen (3-3, 3-5), which led 24-0 at halftime. Tucker also had a 40-yard punt return for a score. Beltram had 145 yards on 10 carries.
Landan Stevenson scored for the Maples (0-5, 1-7) on a one-yard run.
Carmichaels 27, Union 18
Kevin Kelly scored twice to spark Carmichaels to a 27-18 victory over Union in a non-conference game.
Kelly scored on a par of 1-yard runs and Bailey Jones went over from the 2 for the Mikes (2-5).
Tyler Benedict threw two TD passes and ran for another for Union (3-5).
Beaver Falls 34, Waynesburg 14
Josh Hough ran for three touchdowns and Beaver Falls used two TDs late in the fourth quarter to pull away and defeat Waynesburg 34-14 in a Tri-County West Conference game.
Waynesburg (0-6, 2-6) trailed by only 14-7 at halftime and 20-14 with five minutes remaining.
Hough, however, broke off a 50-yard touchdown run with 4:10 to play and Beaver Falls (4-2, 6-2) added another score less than two minutes later.
Caleb Shriver hauled in a 46-yard TD pass from Darnell Johnson for Waynesburg’s first score and Trevor Stephenson had a 39-yard touchdown run that made it a one-score game midway through the fourth quarter.

Our Lady of Sacred Heart was a 60-0 winner over Jefferson-Morgan in a non-conference game, Penn-Trafford, the top-ranked Class 5A team, was a 55-14 winner over Trinity in a non-conference game, and Ringgold was blanked 37-0 by Greensburg Salem in the Class 4A Big Eight Conference.
