Orndoff drafted in XFL

Waynesburg native and former Pitt tight end Scott Orndoff was selected Tuesday by the Los Angeles Wildcats during the XFL’s inaugural draft.

Orndoff was selected in the 9th round of the skill-position players portion of the draft. Orndoff has been on the roster of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals of the NFL.

The XFL plans to begin play in February.

Rams, Ravens get Pro Bowl cornerbacksThe Los Angeles Rams traded cornerback Marcus Peters to the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday for linebacker Kenny Young and an undisclosed pick in the 2020 draft.

Peters has been a starting cornerback for the Rams since they acquired him from Kansas City before last season, taking on important assignments against opponents’ top receivers. The two-time Pro Bowl selection has five interceptions in 22 games since joining Los Angeles.

But Peters’ rookie contract expires at the end of the year, and the defending NFC champions declined to sign their Super Bowl starter to an extension before the start of this season. One day after fellow starting cornerback Aqib Talib went on injured reserve, the Rams (3-3) have given up on Peters entirely, throwing their secondary into further upheaval. A person familiar with the deal tells the Associated Press the Rams have acquired star cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder.

Jacksonville gets first-round picks from the Rams in 2020 and 2021, and a fourth-round pick in 2021.

The Presidents have allowed only one goal in six games.

The Presidents fired two shots after a penalty corner in the 40th minute before Diggan was able to corral the ball and fire in her team-leading fifth goal of the year.
