1950 – Oscar Tentler of California catches a nine-yard pass from Donora’s Manuel Campa for the game’s only touchdown as the East defeats the West, 7-0, in the second Washington County all-star football game at Canonsburg.

1979 – Hot Hitter, with driver Herve Filion, upsets Sonsam and wins The Adios.

1984 – Trinity High School hires Bob Johnson as its head football coach only two days prior to the start of preseason camp. He replaces Terry Kushner, who resigned to take an administrative position with the Baldwin Whitehall School District.

1984 – John Campbell drives Andrel to victory in The Adios.

1985 – Marauder wins The Adios in an upset when heavily favored Nihilator is scratched from a race-off between the two heat winners.

1986 – Jim Neuman is promoted to head wrestling coach at Canon-McMillan, replacing Dave Cook, who resigned to pursue a business venture.

1986 – Ken Fusina, who guided Mon Valley Catholic to the WPIAL boys basketball playoffs in six of the last eight seasons, is hired as the head coach at McGuffey.

1990 – Philadelphia’s Sil Campusano breaks up a no-hit bid by Pittsburgh’s Doug Drabek with a single on a 3-2 pitch with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Pirates win, 11-0.

2001 – Longshot Pine Valley, with driver Brian Sears, uses the lightning lane to come from behind and edge Peruvian Hanover by a length to win the 35th Adios at The Meadows.

2003 – Andrew Sweat pitches a seven-hit shutout and strikes out nine as Washington defeats Chambersburg, 3-0, in the opening game for both teams at the Pony League World Series.
