1939 – The first Major League Baseball game is televised. NBC-TV broadcasts a doubleheader at Brooklyn’s Ebbets Field between the Cincinnati Reds and the Dodgers.
2008 – The Washington Wild Things overcome a 9-0 deficit in the third inning to beat the Kalamazoo Kings 14-13 in a Frontier League game at Consol Energy Park. The Wild Things score the winning run in the eighth inning on Gerard Haran’s second homer of the game.
HOLES-IN-ONE
Bob Harrah had a hole in one Monday at Indiana Run Golf Course. Harrah aced the 135-yard No. 16 hole by using a pitching wedge. Witnesses were Blair Burkhart, Rich Hirsh and Gerry Gavassi.
• Michael Seiler had a hole-in-one Monday at Fort Cherry Golf Course. Seiler caed the 138-yard No. 6 hole by using a 7-iron.
