Starling Marte celebrated his Miami debut with a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning, helping the Marlins top the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Marte, who was acquired in a trade with Arizona on Monday, drove a 1-0 pitch from Shun Yamaguchi (1-3) deep to left-center for his third homer. He also reached on an error in the sixth and scored from first on Garrett Cooper’s double.

James Hoyt (1-0) got the final two outs in the eighth for the win, and Brandon Kinzler pitched a perfect ninth for his ninth save.

Jon Berti homered for Miami, which had dropped its last eight home games.

Dodgers put Turner on IL: The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed third baseman Justin Turner on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring.

The major league-leading Dodgers also activated third baseman Edwin Ríos and left-hander Alex Wood from the injured list Tuesday.

Ríos was in the Dodgers’ lineup against Arizona on Tuesday night, batting seventh and playing third base in the opener of a six-game homestand.

Turner injured his hamstring while stealing second base at Texas last Friday. The roster move is retroactive to last Saturday, meaning Turner can return on Sept. 8.

The 35-year-old Turner is batting .282 with two homers and 20 RBIs in 32 games this season. He is in the final year of his contract with the Dodgers.

The Dodgers plan to welcome right-hander Walker Buehler back to the rotation after an IL stint due to a blister on his pitching hand.

Buehler (1-0, 4.32) will start against Arizona after striking out 11 Rockies over six innings of one-run ball in his previous outing Aug. 21.The Dodgers plan to welcome right-hander Walker Buehler back to the rotation after an IL stint due to a blister on his pitching hand. American League

A’s off until at least Friday: The Oakland Athletics will be off until at least Friday to allow for additional testing and contact tracing after a member of Oakland’s organization tested positive for the coronavirus.

Major League Baseball postponed the A’s three-game series in Seattle this week and said the games will be made up with a doubleheader in Seattle on Sept. 14, previously a day off for both teams, and another in Oakland on Sept. 26.

Oakland is still set to open a weekend homestand against San Diego on Friday night.

Ray’s Morton to return: Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Charlie Morton will come off the injured list and start today against the New York Yankees. Morton was pulled from a start against New York on Aug. 9 with right shoulder inflammation and has been out of action since. He’s 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA this season for the AL East-leading Rays, who are hoping to add to their cushion over the second-place Yankees in the teams’ final matchup this season.

Astros back on diamond: The Houston Astros will return to play as scheduled on Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers after their game Sunday against the Oakland Athletics was postponed because a member of the A’s organization tested positive for the coronavirus.

The status of Houston’s series against the Rangers had been uncertain as the Astros awaited results of coronavirus tests they took on Sunday. There were no details provided on whether the positive test from the A’s came from a player, coach or someone else.

The Astros announced Tuesday that the three-game series at Minute Maid Park would go on as scheduled.
