Washington Health System is being inundated with phone calls from people seeking the COVID-19 vaccine after the state Department of Health’s announcement that it has expanded Phase 1A of COVID-19 vaccination distribution is causing Washingwith the recent announcement (yesterday) and changes to the 1A recommendations by the state, we have been receiving numerous calls DEMANDING the vaccine from local residents that are 65 and older.

The PA Department of Health recently announced the expansion of Phase 1A, which before noon on January 19th, 2021, only included long-term care facility residents and health care workers. This new expansion now includes anyone age 65 and older, and those age 16-64 with high-risk conditions.

We realize that many of you are eager to receive the vaccine, and assure you that we are doing everything we can to get the vaccine distributed as quickly as possible. Currently, our COVID Vaccine Schedule for the week of January 25th, 2021, is full. Despite the State of Pennsylvania’s reclassification of eligibility for Phase 1A, WHS has limited resources and we are receiving a limited supply of vaccine at this time.

Therefore, we are unable to vaccinate everyone as quickly as they’d like, and we need everyone to please remain patient. We plan to have an online COVID Vaccine request process activated as soon as possible, but until then, please remain patient and try not to email, call or text us about vaccine availability. We understand you are excited to schedule yourself and/or your family for the vaccine, but we are currently NOT collecting names or creating waiting lists. Again, please be patient.

Washington Health System is currently providing the largest quantity of COVID vaccines in Washington and Greene County. In addition, we are working diligently to increase capacity as quickly as possible to help address the community vaccination plan, but please understand that we are unable to accommodate everyone immediately.

When we are ready to begin scheduling residents we will communicate that information here, on our Facebook page, and through our e-blast. If you have specific clinical questions regarding your health and the vaccine, please contact your PCP.

Lastly, we’re asking all of you to Be Courteous!! We’re a place of healing and wellness, but it will take time, maybe months, to get to everyone who now qualifies in Phase 1A vaccinated. We’ll commit to being courteous to you and we expect you to be courteous with our staff. It will not help if you take out your frustration and anger on our team members. We’re doing the best we can to get the vaccine in your arms as quickly as possible.
