Marissa/Michelle –

Workout – marissa I managed group expercise along with nutrition department, people in group exercise, center was open, then closed, alot of them said they relied a lot on exerices to keep them motiveated to eat heatlhty, they fll off of theri routine, and ended up gaignin weight, a lot of it too was emotional streess, not konwing what was going to hampepen and dealth ing with what was coming at them, so dealing with all of that. Some peopel said they took up hobbies of baking, so it was not only not exereicsing and not eating right, but also eating things they didn’t eat.

Michelle -dieatitican. For my lients who tlold me they gained a lot of weight, their eyes would get big and say i packed on a lot of weight, or I packed on the pounds.

Marisssa- pople didn’t want to share how muhc they’d gained.

Micje;le- go back to basices, not just jumping on fad diets, esepcialy when people gained a lot of wiehg nad they want to lose it quickly, they’ve heard of a person who lost 50 pounds in two weeks, Worst part of fad diests is they are not typically sustainable long term, as soon as you get off of htat psepciic fide tyou typically gain that weight right back, and you don’t learn how to eat right.

Make small changes over time to imporve the qulaity of the food on your plat.

1/2 plate veggeis, 1/4 plate protein, /14 plate starcy what…

having balanced meals, eating 3 meals a day, if hungry have healthy fruit and stnaks, focuting on eating real food, not going real exrtremes and elimintating food groups.

Look at what you’re drinking, people at hoem a lot or depressed, alcohol can come into play and can cause weight gaion, sugary befverages like soda and sports drinks, that can be where it comes from.

try not to skip meals, i recommend for peoiple who to have 3 meals, focus on 3 healthy foods, avoid fried foods, all those basic things, really getting back to teshtus truetuce.

I’ve been telling people to find their new schedule, what they did pre-covid may not work for them any more, maybe have new injury or gained weight, listen to body, find out what works for them, make themselves a sehceule, helps them stay accountable, group exericse is great, a yoga class, they are kind of like their own community, it helps keep people accoutnable and it feels like you’re a part of soemthing much bigger than just taking a class, people become friends outside of the cetner.

I think coming from a fitness persepctive, people need it mentally and physically, need to be able to releive some of that stress aws well as tking care of themoseves, nobody ever regrets working out, they regret not working out. Getting your body moving, gettin heart pubmping feels good metnally and phsyicallsy.

Dietician – when you exercise and weight loss is somthint you want to do, exercise can help some, but the nutritioin piece, you can decrease calories by elimintaing certain thing s, one fo the biggest benefits my clients tell me is that becaue it makest hem feel bette, it wants them to make healthy choices, they have a better sense of weellitibein thta ttrankslate to other areas of our lives.

I would just like people to be kind to themselves, Michelel – if they havn’t worked out fo rover a year, things might be sore and they might not be where they want to be.

In eating too, dietician, i’ve heard clients say they started cooking at home mroe, and some who said they started getting take out every day, trying to find the balance wheerver you are, giving yourself some grace, psychologiclaly i think we are all in very differe nt places where we were from alst year, wer are all on a new path to a new mnormal from where wer were, wehn you start on journey of imporved health,

Projgess not perfesction, progress, not perfection, working on those
