BRADENTON, Fla. – Odúbel Herrera hit his second home run for Philadelphia as the Phillies edged the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-5 Sunday.
Alec Bohm had an RBI double and Matt Joyce had a pair of RBI singles. Phillies starter Matt Moore allowed one hit, a homer to Jacob Stallings in the first, in four innings.
Pittsburgh starter Steven Brault allowed three runs on five hits and a walk in three innings.
Rodolfo Castro hit a grand slam for the Pirates. Statcast did not measure the home run distance, but it was a no-doubter, bouncing off the roof over the outfield grandstands.
On Saturday, Castro hit a two-run homer off Chad Green in the eighth inning of the Pirates’ 7-5 loss in Tampa, Fla. Before that came the mad dash around the bases on Friday against the Blue Jays, as Lourdes Gurriel Jr. thought he’d caught the ball, but it caromed away and Castro sprinted home to score the winning run.
