Samuel Georgiana threw a two-hitter and Brett Wagner hit a run-scoring triple as Seton LaSalle defeated Burgettstown 3-0 in a Class 2A Section 4 game Tuesday that was shortened to five innings.

The win clinches at least a share of the section title for Seton LaSalle (9-0, 14-1). Burgettstown (6-3, 9-4) had its three-game winning streak snapped.

The Rebels scored the only run they would need in the second inning on a pair of two-out singles and an error. Georgiana made the run stand as he struck out seven and did not issue a walk.

Losing pitcher Nathan Klodowski had a double and Eric Kovach singled for Burgettstown’s only hits.

The Rebels scored two runs in the fifth inning.

• Sam Miller pitched a complete game and drove in three runs, and Peters Township overcame an early five-run deficit to beat Trinity 7-5 in a Class 5A Section 4 game at Wild Things Park.

The win was a big boost to the playoff hopes of PT (4-5, 6-8).

The Indians fell behind 3-0 in the first inning and 5-0 after three. But PT scored twice in the fourth and five times in the fifth to take the lead. Miller then shut down Trinity over the final four innings.

Miller hit a two-run double in the fifth that gave the Indians the lead at 7-5.

Joey Bedillion drove in a pair of runs and Mac Ciocco had a triple for the Indians.

Brent Kurtz hit a double and Ty Banco had two singles for Trinity (0-7, 3-9).

• Brownsville scored five runs in the fourth inning and pulled away for a 12-6 win over host Charleroi in Class 3A Section 4.

Charleroi (2-7, 4-8) led 6-5 after two innings but Brownsville (5-4, 6-8) used the big fourth inning to grab a 10-6 lead. The Falcons added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Brownsville hit five doubles and four different Falcons had two RBI.

Ben Shields went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI for the Cougars. Joe Campbell was 3-for-3.

Lauren Duke twirled a three-hit shutout and Hailey Freeman drove in a pair of runs as Canon-McMillan blanked Peters Township 4-0 in a Class 6A Section 1 game Tuesday.

Duke struck out seven as she helped Canon-Mac (3-3, 6-6) climb to the .500 mark.

The Big Macs took a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI double by Elika Mowery. It remained 1-0 until the sixth, when C-M scored three times, twice on double by Freeman.

Sophia Duke, Elli Kotar and Olivia Ulam also doubled to fuel the Big Macs’ eight-hit attack.

Kaili Lorenzo had a double for PT (0-6, 1-10).

In horse racing

The Belmont Stakes will limit attendance to 11,000 spectators for the third leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown series.

NYRA says that required mandatory seating and social distancing will limit tickets to reserved seats and hospitality areas. No general admission tickets are available at this time. If capacity limits increase before the race, more tickets would be made available.
