Wednesday’s article about the former Kenric Manor in Donora possibly housing international students from Penn State Fayette contained inaccurate information. Dr. Charles Patrick, chancellor and chief academic officer at Penn State Fayette, said the college has no agreement to house students there.
“I’ve never spoken with anyone from that company,” Patrick said. “Not only have I never talked to anyone from that company, there is no way we would make an agreement when there are options for us in Fayette County. We have a privately owned set of dorms with over 60 beds. We’ve got plenty of room. We also have other companies we can partner with. There’s no reason we would go all the way to Donora.”
Donora Planning Commission is considering a request by Future iService, LLC, owner of the former personal care home, to use the facility for student housing. Borough council would have to give final approval to the request to use the property for student housing.
