Connor Roberts threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers and Andrew Durig scored three first-quarter TDs as Trinity rolled to its first win of the season, 41-6, over Yough in a nonconference game Friday night.

Roberts completed eight of 12 passes for 225 yards and TDs of 38 yards to Durig, 25 yards to Braydon May and 35 yards to Jeremy Sikora.

Sikora had 162 receiving yards.

Durig opened the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown scamper and made it 14-0 in the opening quarter when he bolted 49 yards for a score.

A one-yard TD plunge by Hunter Strickland made it 20-0 and Roberts’ 38-yard TD pass to Durig gave the Hillers (1-2) a 27-0 lead in the first quarter.

Yough’s only score came early in the second quarter on a 30-yard run that cut the Trinity lead to 27-6.

Sto-Rox 36, McGuffey 0

Jaymar Pearson rushed for three touchdowns, including a 98-yard run, and undefeated Sto-Rox scored 22 third-quarter points enroute to a 36-0 victory over McGuffey in a nonconference game.

Pearson had TD runs of 98, 41 and 76 yards, leading Sto-Rox to its third win as many games. Pearson’s final two touchdowns came in the Vikings’ big third quarter.

McGuffey fell to 1-2. The Highlanders were hurt by fumbles as they lost three in Sto-Rox territory, including one after reaching the Vikings’ 10-yard line. McGuffey also turned the ball over on down at the Sto-Rox 2-yard line in the second quarter. On the next play, Pearson broke loose for his 98-yard jaunt that gave the Vikings a 14-0 lead.

Austin Jones passed for two scores, both on wide receiver screens. The first was a 39-yarder to Zay Davis in the first quarter. Jones threw to Jaymont Miller-Green for a 59-yard touchdown in the third quarter. The score came on play after a McGuffey fumble.

Sto-Rox outgained McGuffey 539-192. The Vikings’ total offense came on only 37 plays.

Eric Donnelly led the Highlanders with 50 rushing yards.

Ringgold 12, South Allegheny 10

John Polefko’s five-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter was the difference as Ringgold pulled out a 12-10 nonconference win Friday night over South Allegheny.

Ringgold (2-1), which has won two in a row, scored first, getting a two-yard touchdown run by Landon Oslowski for a 6-0 lead in the opening quarter.

A second-quarter field goal pulled South Allegheny to within 6-3 at halftime. The Gladiators (0-3) took a 10-6 lead in the third quarter when Kavan Markwood capped a drive with a one-yard scoring plunge.

The Rams, however, mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter that culminated with Polefko’s scoring jaunt and the Ringgold defense was able to protect the two-point lead the rest of the way.

Thomas Jefferson 27, South Fayette 0

Thomas Jefferson accomplished something against South Fayette that hasn’t happened for 15 years.

TJ beat South Fayette, 27-0, shutting the Lions out for the first time since a 20-0 loss to Brentwood in 2006.

Quarterback Joe Leske scored on a 2-yard run and threw an 80-yard pass to McClain Flinn as the Jaguars moved to 2-0. South Fayette fell to 2-1.

Elias Lipencott opened the scoring with a 2-yard run in the first quarter and finished it with a 5-yard run with 3:12 remaining to play.

Leske completed 4 of 7 passes for 143 yards and was not intercepted. He also rushed for 51 yards, one of three TJ players to gain at least 50 yards rushing.

Chartiers-Houston 44, Mapletown 15

Lane Camden scored three touchdowns, one on a 54-yard fumble return, and Chartiers-Houston defeated Mapletown 44-15 in a nonconference game.

Mapletown (2-1) took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter but Chartiers-Houston (2-0) scored the game’s next 44 points. Mapletown didn’t score again until two seconds remained in the game.

Camden’s three-run with 5:32 left in the first half tied the score at 7-7 and was the first of three touchdowns by the Bucs in a span of less than three minutes. A 50-yard run by Jordan Irson put C-H in the lead and Tery Fetsko’s three-yard TD run gave the Bucs a 21-7 halftime advantage.

A five-yard Camden TD run and a safety in the third quarter stretched the C-H lead to 30-7. Jake Mele hauled in a 15-yard TD pass from Fetsko early in the fourth quarter and Camden had his scoop-and-score.

Landan Stevenson scored both TDs for the Maples with a six-yard run in the first quarter and a two-yarder in the fourth.

Stevenson led all rushers with 110 yards on 22 carries. Irson paced the Bucs with 77 yards on 12 attempts. Fetsko completed nine of 11 passes for 114 yards.

California 49, Waynesburg 7

Damani Stafford and Addison Panepinto combined for five touchdowns to lead California to a 49-7 victory over host Waynesburg in a nonconference game.

Stafford scored on runs of 40, 7 and 8 yards. and Panepinto went over from 24 with a fumble return and 5 yards on offense as California moved to 2-0.

Hunter Assad scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter that gave California a 21-7 lead. Assad passed for 103 yards and rushed 177 times for 136 yards.

Stafford finished with 169 yards on 18 carries as California rushed for 344 yards.

Waynesburg scored in the second quarter on a 43-yard pass from Jake Stephenson to Trent Zupper, who five catches for 88 yards.

Burgettstown 57, Avella 8

So far, so good for Burgettstown High School’s football team.

The Blue Devils erupted for a 57-8 victory over Avella in a nonconference game.

Jackson LaRocka scored three touchdowns, Corbin Harrison had two and four other Burgettstown players scored one touchdown each as the Blue Devils moved to 2-0.

LaRocka scored on runs of 10, 38 and 30 yards for the Blue Devils, who also got TDs from Caleb Russell, Zach Shrockman, Jaeron Cody and Brodie Kuzior.

K.J. Rush scored for Avella.

Bentworth 20, Frazier 19

Caleb Peternal intercepted a Frazier pass near the Bentworth goal line to secure a 20-19 victory by the Bearcats in a nonconference game.

Peternel also caught a 66-yard touchdown from Seth Adams in the fourth quarter. Adams rushed for a 52-yard TD and hit Vitali Daniels with a 13-yard score to open the scoring.
