I hope you had a nice weekend. I have two ideas for you:

A couple WU employees with strong military backgrounds are taking on additional roles at the University to increase community partnerships related to veterans and military students. They will be serving as liaisons for veteran and military family students and also provide resources for information related to financial benefits from the Department of Veteran Affairs, Department of Defense and other local, state, federal or private organizations. They will be reviewing our policies and helping to create and implement military friendly changes on behalf of veterans, active duty military personnel, reservists and dependents. Dr. Michelle Steimer, who you’ve interviewed for other stories, will be leading this initiative as the Director of Veteran and Military Student Services and Initiatives, and Charles Stoddard will serve as the Assistant Director. 1. A current nursing student, Jacob Caldwell, received the championship belt at the 2022 TBA Muay Thai World Expo Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, last month.  It’s the largest Muay Thai tournament in North America.  He won the championship for his bracket (153.1 – 159 lbs.) over 25 other competitors from all over the U.S. and Canada. He trained for this over the last seven years at the Fight Society Muay Thai Gym in Morgantown, WV.  Attached are photos of Jacob with his coaches Edson and Jenny Freitas, both from Morgantown, WV.  Jacob can be reached at
