High school baseball

Chagrin Falls (Ohio) scored nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break open a tight game and beat Waynesburg 14-4 on Saturday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Waynesburg, which led 3-0 in the third inning, had a double by Logan Pack and two singles by losing pitcher Mason Switalski.

On Sunday, Paul Blazer (Ky.) scored 11 runs over the first two innings to defeat Waynesburg, 16-9.

The Raiders had nine hits, including two each by Tyler Groves and Braden Benke.

n Trinity lost two out of three games over the weekend.

On Sunday, the Hillers lost 4-3 to Titusville, surrendering two runs in the sixth and seventh.

On Saturday, the Hillers drubbed Titusville 11-6, pounding out 13 hits and scoring at least one run in every inning but the second.

Trinity pitching surrendered 5 runs in the top of the seventh inning to fall 13-7 to North Penn.

n A.J. Kuzior drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the eighth inning to give Burgettstown an 8-7 win Saturday over New Brighton.

Eric Kovach tripled and drove in three runs for the Blue Devils, Nathan Klodowski smacked two doubles and Kuzior added a double.

Kovach was the winning pitcher in relief.

High school softball

Chartiers-Houston split a pair of games Saturday in Myrtle Beach, S.C., defeating Deer Lakes 13-9 in the morning before losing 6-5 to Whitehall.

Against Deer Lakes, C-H overcame an early three-run deficit. The Bucs scored six times in the fifth inning to take an 11-6 lead.

Ella Richey led C-H at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a grand slam and six RBI. Bella Hess was 3-for-4 with a triple, four runs and three RBI. Nicolette Kloes doubled and Paige McAvoy contributed three singles. Kloes was the winning pitcher in relief.

Whitehall used an inside-the-park home run in the sixth inning to edge the Bucs. C-H trailed 5-0 in the second but came back to tie. Hess and Richey each went 2-for-3 and scored twice.

n West Greene dropped its second straight game to open the season 0-2. Chardon (OH) defeated West Greene 11-1 in 5 innings at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Kiley Meek took the loss, striking out 2 and walking 8. Payton Gilbert pitched an inning of relief striking out 1 and walking 1. London Whipkey pounded out an RBI single in the fifth inning and Anna Durbin score the lone run for West Greene. Anna Durbin was 2 for 2 at the plate. Abby O’Brien got the win for Chardon, striking out 5 and walking 3. Gina Legan doubled and Sara Sutton tripled for Chardon.

n West Greene dropped its season opener 9-1 to 6A Souderton High School at the Ripken EXperience in Myrtle Beach, SC. Kiley Meek was the losing pitcher striking out 2 and walking 7. Payton Gilbert pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief for WG striking out 2.

Katie Lampe went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base. BreAnn Jackson scored the lone run for the Pioneers. Abby Burns was the winning pitcher for Souderton, striking out 10. Riley York and Brooke Scotti added a triple each, and Lily Ponce was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI for Souderton.

In pro golf

Chad Ramey won the windswept Corales Puntacana Championship on Sunday for his first PGA Tour title, beating Ben Martin and Alex Smalley by a stroke.

n Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson finished his final round with a flourish to secure victory at the Qatar Masters at Doha Golf Club on Sunday.
