Mike Evans completed 11 of 20 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns and added scoring run as Canon-McMillan rolled to a 49-7 non-conference win at Baldwin.

Baldwin (1-6) took a 7-0 lead less than four minutes into the game but Canon-McMillan (3-4) reeled off 49 unanswered points.

Evans threw a 5-yard TD pass to Austyn Winkleblech to pull C-M to within 7-6 and Jake Kasper scored on a one-yard run to give the Big Macs the lead late in the first quarter. Kasper finished with 134 yards on 15 carries.

Evans scored on a 22-yard scamper in the second quarter and Ben Urso returned a Baldwin punt 38 yards for a touchdown as Canon-McMillan led 26-7 at halftime.

Baldwin attempted an onside kick to start the second half, but Canon-McMillan grabbed the ball on a bounce and returned it to the Highlanders’ eight-yard line. On the next play, Evans passed to Treyvon Mullen for a touchdown.

Evans added a 23-yard scoring strike to Winkleblech and Gio Pucillo had a 13-yard touchdown run.

McGuffey 43, Charleroi 7

Phillip McCuen passed for two first-half touchdowns and ran for another as McGuffey rolled to a 43-7 victory over Charleroi in a Class 2A Century Conference game.

The Highlanders (3-1, 5-2) led 21-0 after one quarter and 37-0 at halftime. The game was delayed in the second quarter because a Charleroi player was injured and left the field in an ambulance, according to a McGuffey Sports Network report.

McCuen opened the scoring when he passed 32 yards to Tristan McAdoo for a touchdown a little more than two minutes into the game.

McCuen also had a 16-yard scoring toss to Ethan Dietrich in the second quarter and ran 10 yards to the end zone in the first quarter.

Kyle Brookman scored on a 22-yard jet sweep, Eric Donnelly scampered five yards for a touchdown and Malachi Ealy had a two-yard TD plunge for the Highlanders.

McGuffey recorded a safety on a bad snap from center on a Charleroi punt.

The Cougars (0-3, 1-5) scored their lone points in the fourth quarter on an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Gianni Pellegrini.

Peters Township 48, Moon 8

Peters Township did all its scoring in the first half and rolled to a 48-8 victory over winless Moon in a Class 5A Allegheny Six Conference game.

Chris Cibrone threw touchdown passes of eight yards to Thomas Aspinwall and 47 yards to Nate Miller for the Indians (3-1, 6-1), who led 14-0 after one quarter before exploding for 48 second-quarter points.

Brendan McCullough got PT going by returning a Moon punt 45 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring.

PT’s Richie Woods (2 yards), Joey Wertman (16), Vinny Sarcone (7) and Logan King (13) had one touchdown run apiece.

Fort Cherry 42, Avella 8

Shane Cornali caught one scoring pass and returned an interception 84 yards for a touchdown as Fort Cherry defeated Avella 42-8 in a Class A Black Hills Conference game.

Quarterback Matt Sieg had a had in three touchdowns for the Rangers (2-2, 4-3), including a 60-yard pass to Cornali that opened the scoring. Sieg also ran for touchdowns of three and 63 yards. He had five carries for 113 yards.

Braydon Cook ran 50 yards for a Fort Cherry touchdown and Ethan Faletto had a 29-yard scoring jaunt.

The lone TD for Avella (1-3, 1-6) was a 14-yard scamper by Cole Jaworowski in the fourth quarter.

California 41, West Greene 14

Jake Layhue passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more as California overpowered West Greene 41-14 in a Class A Tri-County South Conference game.

Layhue, who completed 10 of 14 passes for 234 yards, threw first-half touchdown of 17 and 28 yards to Aidan Lowden and a 33-yarder to Caden Powell as the Trojans (2-2, 5-2) forged a 21-0 halftime lead.

Layhue had TD runs of six and 14 yards in the fourth quarter. Spencer Petrucci had a 33-yard Td jaunt in the third quarter. Layhue had 140 rushing yards on 15 carries.

Johnny Lampe caught an 81-yard scoring pass and had an eight-yard run for the West Greene touchdowns.

Chartiers-Houston 39, Carlynton 8

Jessie Orbin and Jake Mele each scored twice to power Chartiers-Houston to a 39-8 victory over Carlynton in Class A Black Hills Conference game.

Orbin rushed 17 times for 75 yards and scored on a pair of 3-yard runs.

Mele caught touchdown passes of 29 and 26 yards from Terry Fetsko, who completed 10 of 22 passes for 113 yards.

Thomas Jefferson 45, Trinity 10

Thomas Jefferson wore down Trinity over the final three quarters and defeated the Hillers 45-10 in a Class 4A Big Seven Conference game.

TJ quarterback Brody Evans completed 20 of 27 passes for 336 yards and two touchdowns.

Trinity (1-3, 2-5) used a one-yard scoring plunge by Nico Mauro to cap a 40-yard touchdown drive and tie the score at 7-7 early in the second quarter. Thomas Jefferson, however, outscored the Hillers 38-3 the rest of the way.

Evans threw TD passes of 70 and 14 yards to Sean Sullivan in the second quarter. Aidan Whalen had two five-yard TD runs in the second half. Elias Lippincott had an 18-yard TD run that opened open the scoring and added a two-yarder in the third quarter.

Trinity’s Andy Palm booted a 26-yard field goal with 50 seconds left in the first half that cut TJ’s lead to 21-10.

South Fayette 20, Plum 6

Nathan Deanes scored three touchdowns, the last one with 8:32 to play to sew up a 20-6 victory over Plum in a non-conference game.

South Fayette moved to 4-3 overall and Plum fell to 3-4

Deanes, who had 87 yards on 17 carries, scored on a 6-yard run and 2-yard run in the first half as South Fayette held a 14-6 edge at the break.

Plum scored on a 4-yard pass to Jerome Frazel from quarterback Sean Franzi.

Latrobe 42, Ringgold 0

Corey Boerio and John Wetzel each accounted for two touchdowns as Latrobe shut out Ringgold 42-0 in a Class 4A Big 7 Conference game.

The Wildcats opened the scoring on a one-yard run by tailback Corey Boerio. Quarterback John Wetzel hit Boeri with a 1-yard touchdown pass minutes later to make it 14-0.

Robert Fulton pushed the football over from 1 yard 20 seconds before the first quarter ended to give Latrobe a 21-0 lead.

Wetzel broke free for a 17-yard run to give the Wildcats a 28-0 lead at halftime. Kollin Stevens went 90 yards with the second-half kickoff.

Belle Vernon 51, Greensburg Salem 7

Quinton Martin rushed for 118 yards and scored twice to help Belle Vernon crush Greensburg Salem, 51-7.

Martin also caught four passes for 53 yards. Jake Gedekoh ran for 56 yards and scored three times for the Leopards.
